Brand new building and clinic toys
Forth Valley Vets have commenced building of a new purpose-built hospital being constructed on 73 acres of land purchased on Forth Road. The new building will include:

What we are seeking from a person in this role:

Skills and Capabilities:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in small animal veterinary practice with a veterinary degree, acknowledged within Australia and eligible for registration with the Tasmania Veterinary Board
Advanced Surgical Skills: Exceptional capability in performing a wide range of surgical procedures, with a focus on both common and complex cases.
Leadership in the Operating Room: Guiding surgical teams through procedures, ensuring protocols are followed, and maintaining calm and focus under pressure.
Problem-Solving in Clinical Settings: Quickly identifying and addressing surgical complications or unexpected challenges during procedures.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicating with both the veterinary team and pet owners, ensuring clarity in the discussion of surgical options, risks, and post-operative care.
Organisational Abilities: Efficiently managing surgical schedules, resources, and team roles to optimise workflow and patient care.
Commitment to Professional Development: Engaging in continual learning to stay updated with the latest surgical techniques and sharing this knowledge through mentoring.
Work Conditions:
Full-time role over an 8 or 9 day fortnight is preferable. However part-time hours is an option by mutual discussion.
A choice to be part of our Tasmania Wildlife Hospital veterinarian rotation as part of the role, with clinical hands-on wildlife work.
Participation in a/h’s roster (1-in-5). Our longer term vision includes the development of a 24/7 emergency service which will eliminate an afterhours roster for this role.
Potential for Saturday morning shifts if a fill-in required but only by mutual agreement.
